About Caroline Barber and Baroc Events
After University, I spent 5 years cooking and waitressing in London. My heart has always been in the Arts both in Design and in food, drink and entertainment. Moving back to Hampshire I continued my hospitality roles and then enjoyed a 10-year career in Broadcast Graphic Design. An unexpected redundancy lead to World travels and a chapter combining both my passion for entertaining and my television experience, emerged. I made bespoke ‘This is your life’ films for charismatic and high achieving personalities.
From this avenue and through my relation William Bartholomew (WBPO) I met Nicky Sherlock from Sherlock Parties and started mixing with two of the finest party planners in the industry. I learnt how to elaborate from organizing a small dinner party at home to converting a marquee in the middle of a muddy field into a Cartoon world of Roald Dahl adventures. Nicky gave me the courage to serve David Cameron and taught me the difference between a tempura and a teepee. My tea lights became candelabras and I was taught to never accept biscuits or wear sunglasses when meeting a client!
I married a sailor and am now based in the sailing village of Hamble on the South Coast. I took some time out having my 3 children and in the meantime, I have been working for friends and family and a few of my long-standing clients. With my youngest now going to Nursery I am looking forward to working for myself and developing my company Baroc Events into a successful and first-class Party Planning and Events Business. I’m learning to be tech savvy, and still prefer a fountain pen written letter on Symthson paper falling through my letterbox to a hashtag and a facetime call and I’ll always prefer people to spreadsheets. Luckily though being in my mid 40’s I like to think I’m old enough for the wise and trendy enough for the young.
From Christenings and children’s tea parties to 90th Birthday Parties and Funeral wakes, I can organize Bar Mitzvahs, 18th’s, 21st’s, Weekends away, Weddings, Shooting, Sailing and motor boat cruises and sporting trips and will even put up a marquee in a warehouse for your Corporate party. I will make your occasion very special for you and I will hold your hand and take away all the stress so that you enjoy the lead up to the party itself and make sure it runs like clockwork so that everyone talks about it for years to come.
I believe I learnt from the best and my friend’s tell me hosting is in my genes. Seeing people together, eating, drinking, talking, laughing and dancing makes me feel so happy and fulfilled and I believe I will organize and deliver a party of whatever size, theme or calibre that fits your imagination and your budget. I can hire in a fairground wheel or pick wild flowers from the hedgerow. I’m there to help not to overtake (unless you want me to!) It’s your party and let me give you confidence to push that boat out a tiny bit further….
Testimonials
Thank you so much for being the best planner and friend to Alex and I throughout our Wedding. I really couldn’t have done it without you and I wouldn’t have wanted to! Everyone said it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to and I agree. It was truly perfect and how good did the gothic doors look?! You brought my visions to life and I can’t thank you enough.
Chloe from Hampshire
Thank you for all you did to make it such a great day. My husband was thrilled and that’s not easy!
Catherine from Ascot
A brief word to thank you for the most sensational organization for Douglas’s party. It all came together in the end and working with you was an absolute pleasure.
Jane from Berkshire
The party was a smashing success. Run so efficiently I had little to do but enjoy the party as a guest, which is rarely the case. I'm a bit nervous about the final invoice but I'll hand it to the directors whilst they are still over the moon about how well it went and not caring about the bar tab!
Andrea from London
Thank you Caroline for ensuring that our party was a success. You and your team were a tremendous help not only on the evening but during the lead up period. Your encouragement and ideas were much appreciated and kindly put. It was a relief on the night to know we were in the hands of professionals.
Christina from the New Forest
You were a Trojan on the night and made life so much easier for us. It does show its worth getting the best and I so much preferred working with you than a large company. You gave the whole event such a personal touch.
Andrew from Dorset
What a memorable event. You’re help was truly wonderful, during the lead up and over the whole weekend. You and the crew did a fabulous job and I’m terribly grateful for making Saturday and Sunday so enjoyable and so much fun, none of which could have happened without your enormous input.
Adrian from Hampshire
Another remarkably successful party at the Manor House, all thanks to your professionalism and fabulous support. The Buffet was superb, delicious produce, appropriate spices, right quantities. The service was faultless, discreet, attentive and swift. I was delighted and once again so impressed that you managed to be so patient in spite of my chaotic lifestyle. Thank you again and again.
Catherine from West Sussex
My Asian colleagues were most impressed with the whole day. Slick, delicious and faultless organization. Thank you for organizing the sunshine too.
